An ebony tom, a charmer. He wears his flirts like armour.
Spiderpaw
The handsome ebony tom breathed in the sweet air as he cheerily trotted through a paw-worn path amongst the trees of the open forest. The soft, simple scent of flowers and grass dew drifted under his black nose and made him sigh with content.
Spiderpaw's golden eyes darted with a bounded curiosity, his long coiling tail brushing the grass, as he stared up at the trees he had learned to climb. His mentor had taught him a few things, like how to keep his balance and use his ridiculously long legs to his advantage. The tom paused in his walk and stared down at his limbs; why yes, they did indeed look like stilts!
The tom quietly chuckled to himself before turning to one of the trees. Time to test himself. The tree's bark was rough, coarse and would certainly provide grip even if there weren't any branches to balance on.
Taking a breath, Spiderpaw crouched before springing a good foxlength up the tree's aged trunk; his springy legs acting like the body of a striking serpent in order to propel himself. With surprising ease, the ebony tom hopped up the tree using his strong claws and forelimbs to clamber up with speed, his tail keeping his body to the trunk.
However, Spiderpaw was still an apprentice. One paw was placed at an odd angle on the trunk and caused him to slip. Blinking in surprise, Spiderpaw felt his grip on the tree fall like sand through fur. Thankfully, the tom's instincts gripped him and he spun his slender body whilst falling like a tattered midnight ribbon.
His paws slammed the ground with a quiet tap and Spiderpaw turned to stare up at the tree with a mournful sigh. "Oh goddess of the forest, why do you torment me so?"
